Housestories is based on a simple idea: that there is nothing more beautiful than home, wherever or whatever that may be. Earlier this summer I reach out to Chalie Howes of Golden Grasses to document her family's home in Abbotsford.
Chalie and her husband Kris bought their first home together 9 years ago primarily as an investment property. Little did they realize that this would be the home where they would eventually become a family. They’ve hosted friends and family, witnessed the neighbourhood expand, had three beautiful kids and watched them grow.
I asked Chalie and Kris what they will miss most about this home 30 years from now, and they said it would be the music of their kids laughing and running around.
When I photograph a home I know that I’m not just documenting a the space and the furniture, and I know that I’m not just capturing the artifacts and little details. I hope that I’m giving Chalie and her family a window that they can peer into 30 years from now and see the sound of a young family’s life in their first home.
